At Sæby Søbad you are right next to a child-friendly beach filled with happy water-loving playmates, and you are only 500 metres from the Town by the Sea replete with market-town charm. The lively harbour area is the town’s focal point with cutters, yachts, a glassblowing studio, galleries and restaurants. Sit down on a bench or at a table and just take it all in.
Don’t forget to visit “The Lady from the Sea” at the north pier of the harbour. This over 6-metre-tall concrete sculpture was created by sculptress Marit Benthe Mygdal together with 880 children, each of whom gave their opinion of what a guardian angel made of glass should look like. The Lady from the Sea depicts a mythological figure who shows two different faces.
Invite your own mermaid and the rest of the family out for a fine dinner. We recommend the fish specialities at Klostergyden or Fiskehandel.
